  1. First post-natal rite of passage of the new born baby  (n.)
    Category: Sixteen rites of passage
    During this rite the father welcomes the baby by touching the baby's lips with honey and ghee as vedic hymns are recited. Used to be done before the umbilical cord was cut. This period before the umbilical cord is cut is considered as free of sutkal of birth. Now this is done along with नामकरण or any other suitable time.
